About Spencer

Hello, I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LH 61616098) in the state of Washington. I’m a proud Penn State grad, where I received my Bachelors Degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology; and, after an obvious career change, received my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology with a Concentration in Trauma and Abuse from the Seattle School of Theology & Psychology.

Having studied tech in undergrad and psychology in grad school, I have a particular interest in how our use of technology and consumption of digital content impacts our mental, social, and emotional wellbeing. I also believe there is value in having time set aside to limit distractions so that our thoughts and emotions can catch up to our bodies. I think of therapy as one of these times, a set aside space to make room for what may feel like a wilderness within.

Looking back, I would say my passion for working with people began in college. Despite having studied Engineering, most of my time and energy went into caring for my residents as an RA and involvement in campus ministry as a student leader. After college, I was honored to work as full-time campus ministry staff with the CCO (Coalition for Christian Outreach) at Penn State Abington until I felt called to pursue my Masters Degree.

I’m also a husband, father, big brother, adventurer, musician, coffee snob, rock climber, mountaineer, total nerd, and a practicing Christian. In short, I’m a very curious person, and I believe childlike awe and wonder are core to our healing and wellness. I believe therapy is a process of sojourning together toward wholeness and restoration. Facing trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, addiction, grief, etc. can feel like entering a wilderness. However, there is a narrow path through all that is wild and untamed that leads back to joy, awe, and wonder. I’d love to come alongside you on this journey.
